"When the builders had finished re-construction of our house the entire plot had become a building site. We contacted Justin Wride and the MedGardening team following recommendation by a friend and gave them an unusual brief. We asked for a patch of 'jungle' where we could sit in the middle and not see out. Justin proposed a pergola covered with climbers, under which we could sit, surrounded by trees and bushes of various sizes. They recommended plants based on their size, leaf shape, flowers, fragrance and fruit. All of the selected plants were appropriate to the Mediterranean climate and a fully automatic drip feed irrigation system was installed for use in high summer. The earth and pipework was then covered with a weed suppressing membrane and, on top, river pebbles were spread. Better still, we didn't have to start with seedlings! Most, of the plants were fairly large and mature. In fact they arrived on a low-loader! The garden has been lovely from day one and now, a couple of years on, it has matured into exactly what we hoped for, if not better.
There is one corner where nothing ever grew as there is only an inch or two of soil over a disused septic tank. It had become our dog training and agility area. We initially created a sand-school there, but subsequently decided, for aesthetic and practical reasons, to install artificial grass. That has been a great success. The dogs love playing there, and stay sand-free, while the grass contrasts well with the neighbouring jungle.
The MedGardening team are all lovely people who thoroughly enjoy their demanding work. It was a pleasure having them create our garden and I am very pleased to give Justin Wride and MedGardening my very best recommendation."

The preparation included the judicious use of a mini mechanical digger to deal with unwanted roots and debris. The ground was levelled and a new boundary gate was installed.
